What should I know about Pulmicort before taking it?​

Do not use Pulmicort to treat an asthma attack that has already begun. Pulmicort is not a rescue medicine. It will not work fast enough to treat an asthma attack. Use only a fast-acting inhalation medicine to treat an asthma attack. You should not use this medicine if you have a severe allergy to milk proteins.

Pulmicort Respules can be prescribed for children ages 12 months to 8 years. However, the respules aren’t approved for use in people older than 8 years of age.

PULMICORT FLEXHALER is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma as prophylactic therapy in adult and pediatric patients 6 years of age or older.

Call 911 if your symptoms feel life threatening or if you think you’re having a medical emergency. You may have nasal irritation, called rhinitis, when you’re using Pulmicort. With rhinitis, the lining inside your nose is inflamed. This can cause congestion, or a stuffy or runny nose.
