Important information. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you take Flexeril before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body. You should not take Flexeril if you have recently had a heart attack, or if you have a heart rhythm disorder, congestive heart failure, heart block, or an overactive thyroid.

Cyclobenzaprine HCl is designated chemically as 3-(5H-dibenzo[a,d] cyclohepten-5-ylidene)-N, N- dimethyl-1-propanamine hydrochloride, and has the following structural formula: FLEXERIL 5 mg (Cyclobenzaprine HCl) is supplied as a 5 mg tablet for oral administration.

What should I avoid while taking Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine)?​

Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how cyclobenzaprine will affect you. Your reactions could be impaired. Avoid drinking alcohol. Dangerous side effects could occur. Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Flexeril: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Hepatic Impairment. Concomitant administration of FLEXERIL and naproxen or diflunisal was well tolerated with no reported unexpected adverse effects. However combination therapy of FLEXERIL with naproxen was associated with more side effects than therapy with naproxen alone, primarily in the form of drowsiness.
Flexeril is likely to make you sleepy or impair your judgment time. This may be beneficial in aiding sleep; however, you should avoid operating machinery, driving, or performing tasks that require mental alertness while taking this medicine. Cyclobenzaprine acts primarily through the brain stem rather than the spinal cord and does not act directly on skeletal muscle. Flexeril will not reduce muscle spasm due to central nervous system (CNS) disease, such as cerebral palsy. Flexeril belongs to a class of drugs known as muscle relaxants.
What are the side effects of freedomflexeril (fluoxetine)?
Flexeril may also not be suitable for people with glaucoma or increased intraocular pressure, a history of urinary retention, or taking other drugs that also have anticholinergic side effects (anticholinergic side effects include constipation, blurred vision and an increase in eye pressure).
