Warfarin inhibits the reduction of vitamin K epoxide which limits the activation of vitamin K dependant clotting factors II, VII, IX and X. Warfarin is highly protein bound with a half-life of 36-42 hours. It is metabolized by the cytochrome P450 enzymes: 2C9, 1A2, and 3A4.2
